Physics students are required to do an oral presentation after
they have passed the departmental examination. Once students are affiliated
with a research group and have a research advisor, they must consult with
their advisor to come up with a topic for the oral presentation. The topic
must be different from the student’s research topic. The advisor will
supply a list of relevant references. Students present a half-hour talk
to a 3 person faculty examination committee. The oral presentation is
followed by approximately 30-45 minutes of questioning generally related
to the topic.
